What you're actually getting

Casio has been making watches like this since before most of us were born, and the formula hasn't changed much. That's a compliment, not a dig. Digital quartz, a case that shrugs off knocks, a display you can actually read. My mate Dave has worn one of these on building sites, camping trips, and to his sister's wedding (she was not pleased, but the watch survived). That's the point.

The 2-year warranty is a nice touch. Lots of budget watches come with nothing, or some vague promise buried in a PDF. Having it sold and shipped by Amazon EU adds a proper paper trail if anything goes wrong.

Who this is for, and who it isn't

If you're after something that looks smart in a meeting or impresses anyone who knows their Seikos from their Casios, this probably isn't it. Casio digital watches have a certain aesthetic. Retro to some, plasticky to others. Personally I think they look spot on with a pair of jeans.

This is for someone who wants a watch they can forget about. No charging, no babying, no insurance policy. You wear it, it tells the time, it takes a knock. Simple.

One honest reservation: the listing details are a bit thin. Exact model number, water resistance rating, band material - none of that is spelled out clearly here. Worth checking before you buy, especially if you're planning to wear it anywhere near water.

At roughly 43 quid with a warranty included, it's not half bad for what it is.
