What you're actually getting
Two strips, 78 LEDs each, running at 6500K. That last number matters: 6500K is proper cool white, almost daylight territory. Great for a kitchen worktop where you want to actually see what you're chopping. Less great if you were hoping for a warm, cosy atmosphere. This is functional light, not mood light.
My mate Chris fitted a similar cheap LED strip under his upper cabinets last year, mostly because the overhead light in his galley kitchen was useless and he kept nicking his fingers. The difference was immediate. Not glamorous, but spot on for the job.
Who this is for
Honestly, this is a no-brainer for renters who can't rewire anything and just want more light over the hob or prep area. Stick-on, plug-in, done. Also decent if you're doing a quick refresh before selling a flat and want the kitchen to look a bit less gloomy without spending real money.
If you're doing a full kitchen renovation with proper recessed lighting, skip it. This isn't that.
The one honest reservation
No brand name to speak of, which means build quality is a bit of a lottery. At under six quid for two, the risk is low, but don't expect them to last five years. The 6500K tone is also quite harsh in smaller kitchens. If your walls are white and your cabinets are pale, it can feel a bit clinical. Worth knowing before you commit.
