The mug itself

There's something about wrapping your hands around a Le Creuset mug that just feels different. Heavier than you expect. Solid in a way that cheap stoneware never quite manages. The Deep Teal colour is proper lovely too, not a garish teal, more of a muted, sophisticated shade that looks good on any worktop without screaming for attention.

At 350ml it hits the sweet spot. Big enough for a proper coffee, not so massive it goes cold before you're halfway through. I've got one that lives on my desk and it genuinely keeps drinks warmer for longer than a thinner ceramic would. That's the stoneware doing its job.

Who should actually buy this

If you're after a mug to chuck in the dishwasher daily and not think about, this works fine. Le Creuset stoneware is robust, chip-resistant in practice, and holds up well over time. Good gift option too, the kind of thing people actually use rather than leave in a cupboard.

That said, if mugs are just mugs to you and you'd rather spend a tenner on something else, fair enough. You're not missing a transformative experience. It's a very good mug, not a life-changing one.

One honest reservation

No current discount to speak of, which makes the value case slightly harder to argue. At the regular price it's reasonable for the brand and quality, but you're not bagging a bargain here. Keep an eye out for a dip. Le Creuset stuff does go on sale occasionally and that's when this becomes a no-brainer.
