The kettle that built a reputation
Weber kettles are one of those things that just work. Not flashy, not packed with digital gubbins, just a solid porcelain-enamelled bowl that holds heat brilliantly and turns out proper food. The 47cm size is the sweet spot, big enough for a family spread without feeling like you're managing an oil drum. I've cooked everything from low-and-slow ribs to a full chicken on one of these, and the thermometer on the lid actually earns its keep once you get a feel for the vents.
The bundle here includes the stand and wheels, which matters more than people think. Dragging a kettle across patio slabs without wheels is a faff you don't want mid-cook.
Who this is actually for
If you're new to charcoal cooking and want something forgiving and well-made, this is spot on. Weber parts are easy to find, the community knowledge around these things is enormous, and the build quality means you're not replacing it in two years.
Who it isn't for: anyone expecting instant gratification. Charcoal takes time. And there's a bigger caveat here.
The September problem
Delivery from 2nd September onwards. Honestly, that's the main thing to sit with before clicking buy. You're gambling on decent autumn weather, and British autumn being what it is, that's not a small gamble. If you're planning ahead for next year, or you live somewhere that gets a proper extended summer, fair enough. If you wanted it for August bank holiday, you're out of luck.
At this price for a Weber with the full stand and wheel setup, the deal itself is not half bad. Just know what you're signing up for.
