A platformer that actually respects your time

Astro Bot is the kind of game you sit down with for 'just half an hour' and suddenly it's past midnight and you're grinning like an idiot. It came out in late 2024 and immediately had people talking, not because of cinematic drama or open-world bloat, but because it's a platform game that's just... brilliant at being a platform game.

Every level does something different with the DualSense controller. There's a section where you're using the haptic feedback to feel rain on the pad while Astro splashes through puddles on screen. Small thing, but it sticks with you. The PS5 hardware finally feels like it's being used properly, not just ticked off a features list.

Who it's actually for

Kids will love it, PEGI 7 is spot on here. But honestly, this isn't a kids' game wearing adult clothing or vice versa. It's just good. If you grew up with Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie, there's a nostalgia hit here that lands properly.

My one reservation: if you're not fussed about platformers at all, nothing in here will convert you. It's not trying to be anything other than what it is.

At around 32 quid on Amazon UK right now, and with the community heat it's been getting on HotUKDeals, this is a solid buy if you've been on the fence. Not a discount as such, but for a game this good, that price is fair. Proper good value for what you're getting.
