What you're actually getting

Battlefield 6 is a proper return to form after the mess that was 2042. Large-scale maps, decent class system, and gunplay that actually feels satisfying on a DualSense. The haptic feedback when you fire a bolt-action rifle is one of those small things you don't expect to care about, and then you do. My mate lent me his copy for a weekend and I ended up hogging the telly far longer than planned.

That said, it's not perfect. The campaign is fine but forgettable, the kind of thing you'll finish once and never touch again. Multiplayer is where this game lives and breathes, and if you're playing solo against randoms who don't communicate, it can feel a bit like herding cats.

Who this is actually for

If you were a fan of Battlefield 3 or 4 era chaos, this scratches that itch pretty well. Squad-based, noisy, occasionally brilliant. Not the game for anyone who wants a tight, story-driven experience or something close to tactical sim territory.

The disc version is worth considering if you like keeping a physical library or plan on trading it eventually. No massive discount here, just a fair price on a solid game that the HotUKDeals community has given a decent 867 degrees of heat, which usually means the value holds up under scrutiny.

Personally, I'd say grab it. It's not going to change your life, but on a Friday night with a few mates on voice chat, it's exactly what you want.
