It's gum. But hear me out.

Nobody writes home about chewing gum. But I've been caught out enough times rummaging through a bag for a stray piece before a meeting to know that keeping a proper stash matters more than it sounds. Extra Cool Breeze is the workhorse flavour - not the aggressive mint that makes your eyes water, not some weird tropical thing. Just clean, breezy, does the job.

Fifty pieces for under £1.60 (less if you go Subscribe and Save) is honestly not bad at all. That's ten sticks a pack, five packs in the box. Tucks into a bag, a glovebox, a desk drawer without any fuss.

Who this is actually for

If you chew regularly - commutes, post-coffee, long drives, just a habit - bulk-buying this makes obvious sense. The price per piece comes out to pennies. You're not going to find it cheaper at a petrol station, that's for sure.

If you only chew occasionally, you might find five packs sitting around longer than you'd like. Gum doesn't exactly go off, but it does go stale and powdery after a while, and stale Extra is a properly sad experience.

One honest reservation

The Cool Breeze flavour is solid but fades faster than I'd like. You're looking at maybe ten minutes of proper flavour before it turns into flavourless rubber. That's more or less standard for the brand, so not a surprise, just worth knowing if you're expecting something that lasts.

Still, for the price and convenience, this is a perfectly sensible little buy.
