The sweet that time forgot (in a good way)
Fry's Turkish Delight is one of those sweets that hasn't really changed since your nan had it in her handbag. Dark chocolate shell, soft rose-flavoured jelly inside. It's not for everyone, mate. If you're expecting Dairy Milk, you're in the wrong aisle. But if you know what you're getting into, there's something proper satisfying about it.
I remember buying one from a corner shop as a kid, convinced it was going to be exotic. It was. Still is, a bit. The rose flavour is real and it does linger, which is either delightful or a problem depending on your taste.
Who this is actually for
This deal is spot on for a few types of people:
- Anyone who already buys these and just wants a decent price
- Fans of proper old-school British confectionery
- Someone putting together a retro sweet hamper on a budget
It's not for people who find rose water cloying. And it's not a chocolate bar in the traditional sense, so don't go in expecting that richness.
The price bit
Three bars for 95p, or 85p on Subscribe and Save. Each bar is 51g, so you're getting a reasonable amount of chocolate for your money. The community heat on this one is very high, which usually means it sells out sharpish. No massive discount percentage to shout about here, just a flat good price on something that costs noticeably more elsewhere.
Personally, I'd grab the S&S option if you know you'll eat them. Cancelling is easy enough.
