What you're actually getting
A 140g bag of soft, squidgy sweets that taste exactly like you remember from being about nine years old. The sour apple one hits first with a sharp little fizz, then goes properly sweet underneath. Cherry is milder, more jammy. They're not sophisticated. That's the whole point.
I'll be honest, I bought two bags last month thinking I'd ration them. Gone in an evening, both of them, while watching telly. The texture is the thing, soft enough to squash between your fingers before you eat them, which is apparently something you just have to do.
Who this is actually for
If you grew up in the UK and have any fondness for pick-and-mix, this is a no-brainer at this price. Also decent if you're filling a party bag, a desk drawer, or just want something sweet that doesn't cost you anything worth worrying about.
Not for you if you're after anything remotely refined. These are unashamedly, cheerfully cheap sweets. The ingredients list reads like a geography of artificial flavouring, and that's fine.
The honest reservation
The sour element is pretty gentle, so if you're expecting a proper face-scrunch moment, you might be a touch disappointed. It's more of a mild tang than a full sour hit. The cherry flavour in particular is sweet-forward rather than sharp. Personally I'd have liked a bit more punch, but at 64p a bag it feels churlish to complain.
